Sustainability Journey
Our Commitment
The Sustainability Journey
We believe that beautiful things should do good in the world. Sustainability, for us, is not a destination — it is an ongoing practice, rooted in who we work with, what we make, and how we make it.
Where & How
Made in South Africa
Our products are designed and produced in South Africa, rooted in local craftsmanship and intentional making. We work with a curated network of makers, small studios, and independent producers who share our values — prioritising quality over volume, and longevity over trend.
Every piece that carries The Next Chapter Studio name has been selected with care: ethically sourced materials, responsible production methods, and packaging designed to minimise waste.
- 🌿 Eco-friendly, recyclable, or reusable packaging
- ♻️ Minimal plastic; no excessive or unnecessary wrapping
- 📋 Transparent materials and sourcing disclosures
- ⏳ Products designed to last, be reused, or reduce waste
The People Behind the Products
Women Makers at the Heart of It
The Next Chapter Studio is home to the Women Makers Platform — a curated marketplace and community supporting African women makers to sell, scale, and grow responsibly. Every maker on the platform creates handmade, locally produced, or ethically sourced goods, and commits to sustainable and transparent production practices.
We provide the infrastructure — storefront, payments, marketing, and community — so that makers can focus on what they do best: creating beautiful, meaningful things.
"Every woman maker has a story worth sharing — and a product worthy of the world. Together, we're building Africa's creative economy — sustainably."
The Bigger Picture
Social Impact & Community
When you shop with us, you are participating in something larger than a transaction. You are supporting independent women-led businesses, sustaining local livelihoods, and choosing products made with intention rather than urgency.
Our platform offers makers access to corporate gifting opportunities, mentorship, marketing support, and a community of like-minded creators — pathways that would otherwise be out of reach for many small producers.

A Note on Progress
Sustainability Is a Journey, Not a Finish Line
We recognise that no brand is perfect, and we hold ourselves to the same standard we ask of our makers — progress over perfection. We are committed to honest, transparent communication about where we are, and where we are going.
